Family Counseling

Choices! Counseling Services is a rapidly growing for-profit outpatient mental health agency that delivers its' services to clients primarily in the northwestern counties of Indiana. We provide individual, family, and group therapy. We specialize in the areas of substance abuse, physical, psychological, and sexual abuse, trauma, mood and anxiety disorders. We also specialize in childhood onset disorders such as autism spectrum disorders, attention-deficit and disruptive behavior disorders, and separation anxiety disorders. Finally, we also work with most geriatric onset type disorders. In working with the family, we offer parenting, therapeutically supervised visitations, and we work extensively with court orders for assessment, planning and follow up that require a final report for a decision maker. Local travel required. Reporting to court authorities. We are looking for people with energy, those who believe change occurs and who follow best practices and stay current with cutting edge evidence based treatment.

 Requirements:

  • MSW or Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field
  • Indiana License Preferred, but not required. i.e. LMFT, LMHC, LCAC, LCSW
  • Have evening availability of at least 8 hours per week
  • Have a laptop
  • Pass a drug test and criminal background check
  • Ability to work independently in the satellite offices - LaPorte, Michigan City
  • Computer literacy and organizational skills

Choices! is a research based site. You will learn about cutting edge evidence-based programming, and treatment. There are a variety of services available for interns, making this a great learning experience and a place to gather some of your skill set that will serve you well in your career.

We offer internships with weekly individual and group supervision. If interested, please send us your resume along with information about:

  • Your school, academic department and program, and requirements for field placement at our site. Let us know if this is Undergraduate or Graduate School.
  • The hours/days you are available to intern and the total number of hours per week you are expected to be in a field placement
  • The length of the internship. Please include all breaks and their dates for the time of your internship
  • Any special requirements from your university program.
